Avalanche Express is a film adaptation of a novel by Colin Forbes, released in 1979. It starred Lee Marvin, Robert Shaw, Maximilian Schell and Linda Evans, and was directed by Mark Robson. Both Shaw and Robson died during production which was in Ireland. It is a cold war adventure thriller about a defecting Russian scientist. During a break from production of the film, Robert Shaw was driving with his wife when he started having chest pains and died of a heart attack. Most of his lines were dubbed as his voice was ailing and declining rapidly during the production. Director Mark Robson also died suddenly of a heart attack several months earlier. It is thought Template:By whom that Monte Hellman took over directing after Robson's death. Hellman is not credited in the film.
